The Journey to building your online brand – Part 2

Following from the previous post on the paths we recommend to building your brand, here are some platforms that can aid your journey.

These are social media platforms which rely on shared content to build your brand among a relevant audience. Social media marketing has become a science in itself, and our view is that at the early stage of your brand story, some investment of time is perhaps sufficient to understand and develop your brand online.. gradually, some hiring of “expertise”could help you on accelerate your journey.

Over the past few weeks, more and more SMEs are making the transition from offline and online. There is wide spread understanding that the post Covid world will change the way businesses meet and interact with customers- both B2C and B2B.

Consumers will enter the offline world for transactions out of necessity. Be it malls/ cinemas/ eateries or retail shops. Hence engaging customers at both ends of the funnel- the top and the bottom, will no longer happen at the Point of Sale as in the past.

Hence, the overall interest in learning about digital marketing

Over the past few weeks, through multiple webinars and conversations with prospective clients we have been creating a template for brands who want to move from Offline to Online.

There are concerns about budgets, which mediums to use, what to do as a first step - a lot of anxious questions from founders and CEOs with small teams, looking to find some answers and fixes to building their brands online.

We think, the journey can be categorised in a few key directions.

Social Listening: NYKAA

Started in 2012, Mumbai-based Nykaa is an online retailer for stocking and selling multiple brands. Bringing on multiple brands has allowed the Nykaa store to be comprehensive both in terms of products and in terms of pricing. As it expands into new categories, we thought it would be interesting to see how Nykaa has built its engagement with its customer base.

Over the past 90 days (the duration of our listening exercise), Nykaa reached 8.3 Million of its TG through social posts. While most brands were quiet during the lockdown, Nykaa returned on social media very strongly, in conjunction with its sale.
